First, its industrial sound fits the visual image of the factory. Second, it sounds vaguely like what you might hear at a club, which sort of reinforces the whole beauty / sexiness ideal. And third, the main loop at the beginning sounds manipulated and cold, reinforcing the movie's theme of how artificial the beauty business can be. <BR/><BR/>So you got something that really reinforced your film on multiple levels. <BR/><BR/>The Loscil track is very sophisticated, but also very subtle and its nuances don't break through all the sound and dialogue. The listener mostly hears the droning pads, which don't change much and over 7 minutes aren't as interesting as original soundtrack.<BR/><BR/>btw, here is another example of versions by different <A HREF="http://www.filmcomposerblog.com/2008/08/great-moments-in-composer-firings-vol-i.html" REL="nofollow">film composers</A> - the movie 2001 had an alternative soundtrack as well, which got cut from the film:<BR/>http://tinyurl.com/6p45geAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
